It snowed a few days here in Woodstock over the weekend and it was delightful. It really helps make the holiday season feel real, since they start to put out the Christmas decorations in October now.
Christmas is synonymous with music, and it seems that every pop singer under the sun puts out their version of Silent Night. While purusing the itunes store, we were thrilled to see that Rod Stewart was taking a shot at it – what took you so long Rod?
“I have always been tempted to do a Christmas album,” said Rod Stewart. “And now that I once again have young children, the timing couldn’t be better.”
The album is called, Merry Christmas, baby and gave Stewart a chance to reunite with Award-winning producer and songwriter David Foster, who serves as producer and arranger of the album. This project is a first for both Stewart and Foster under the Verve Music Group label.
So what does Grammy Award®-winning, two-time Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame inductee Rod Stewart do on this album? Stewart has had so much success with his American Songbook album series, resurrecting old standards, this album does that with a twist. Collaborating with Mary J Blidge and C-Lo Green (there is the twist), we were excited to see Trombone Shorty and Peter Erskine on drums (!).
In our book, Rod can do no wrong………..Merry Christmas, Baby.
