Music Monday – The Music of The Super Bowl

by SirLady on February 4, 2013

Last night was a big night for the ladies of music at the XLVII Super Bowl.  Jennifer Hudson with a fantastic rendition of “America The Beautiful”,  followed by Alicia Key’s  national anthem, was perfect.

Then came Beyonce and we think she killed it.  She sang a medley of her biggest hits, including “Crazy in Love” and “Halo.” While Beyonce received a great deal of heat over her lip-syncing less than two weeks ago at President Obama’s inauguration, there was mostly praise for her live performance Sunday.

In his review of the halftime show, The Hollywood Reporter‘s David Rooney wrote: “Beyonce turned on a high-energy, sexually charged performance with exciting multimedia elements. The most eye-popping of these techno-tricks was a double image of Beyonce’s face outlined in lights, with a sea of flowing fabric tresses.”

Beyonce reunited with Destiny’s Child’s Michelle Williams and Kelly Rowland The reunited Destiny’s Child sang “Bootylicious,” “Independent Woman” and Beyonce’s “Single Ladies.”

Overall, everyone in the social media world commented that this was perhaps the best half-time performance ever.

Moments after her performance, the stadium suffered a massive power outage. Coincidence? We think not….
