Woodstock Wednesday – Save The Date(s) – Art & Music Exhibit

by SirLady on September 19, 2012

What better place than a gallery, to pay homage to the art of music?

Kirsten DeHaan’s new CD, PURUSA , releases on Tuesday, October 9th.

DeHaan recorded  PURUSA at the World-class residential recording facility, Clubhouse, in Rhinebeck, NY.  The word PURUSA is used to denote the soul.  Deriving from the Indo-Germanic root, the word “Person”  per = through son= sound; thus a person is one who is known through sound.  The soul is affected not only through sound, but all sensory exposure. In the spirit of PURUSA, in order to be our best self, we must collaborate.

And collaborate we will!   DeHaan has teamed up with some of the top artisans in the Hudson Valley for a interactive Gallery exhibit and CD Release Party. Visual artists: Christina Varga and Bill Miller along with Food Network Chopped™ Champion, celebrity chef, Ric Orlando will be donating art and food respectively inspired by each song on the album for the CD release party (see details above).

In addition to the release party, you have two weeks to catch the art exhibit at VARGA Gallery from September 29th – October 15th.  Visitors to the exhibit, will have the ability to download a free PURUSA app for their smartphone.  Allowing each individual the opportunity to listen to the song that correlates to the art installation.

DeHaan adds, “Too often, [we] look to the songwriter to tell the listener what the songs means.  I am more interested in learning how the songs are received and interpreted; in this case by the audience and artists collaborating in the show”.
